Civil War regiment organized at Peoria, Illinois May 10, 1861 and made up of 10 companies with Captain James P. Walker commanding Co. K and Captain Ross of H Company elected as Colonel of the regiment. Walker was a physician from Mason City, Illinois and resigned from the Army in April 1862 due to illness. Collection apparently consists of only a sampling of various records kept by the company during a part of its existence. Company minutes, which include a copy of Anton Dirksen’s will, document the conduct of official business when the company operated as a corporation.
